Thanks my friend!
When I did a sudo dpkg --configure -a and then did the update mgr, the
thing seems to have been fixed.
Question: (If you care to answer) Lately, when I leave the system on for
some hours, it hangs. No blinking kbd, nothing. just plain stuck. A
driver issue? Any ideas why it halts after a period of time? If I move
the mouse, the screen lights up but no response. Hard kill only option.
That's not UNIX!? ;)
Thanks for your effort! Apreciated!

Sudo apt get remove
Sudo apt get update
Then
Sudo apt get upgrade
Then try to install again

sudo: apt: command not found
I'm new using linux.
What can I do now?

@Andres Lincango: the commands are mistyped, 'apt get' should be 'apt-get' instead everywhere.

A small patch which requires the lists lock before calling the simulate method. Otherwise we raise a faild lock error.

Hi Martin
I am very new to Ubuntu, still need to learn a lot.
What I did to solve my problem was to do an update with Update Manager
and once that was done the concern was resolved.
I then ran Ubuntu Software Center and was able to install programs as
per normal.
Thanks for your assistance.

Hello All,
I had the same issue which I have resolved by updating atpdaemon with the
synaptic package manager.
It works now.

The way I fixed it for myself was to run "dpkg -C" and remove the files that listed. Hope this helps. Thanks for all the work you guys are doing, it really means a lot.

John, I just got a new HP laptop and it had 4 partitions used for Windoze 7 leaving none for me to put Linux on. So I wrote to HP support to see what they all were, and a nice fellow at HP said they comprised a main, boot, recovery and "tools" for flashing the bios without using windows. So which one can I delete? He says to use the recovery partition, after making backup DVD's (5 of 'em!), since if you move partitions the recovery partition will get all screwed up anyhow and you won't be able to use it. "But I can't help you with Linux..." ...that's OK, thanks! So I deleted the recovery, made a logical partition of it, and now have 3 distros running happily (Bodhi, Mint XFCE and Ubuntu 10.10). Oh yeah, and Win7.

Thanks for all of your quick replies and answers to this possible
bug.I think that it's fixed.(All packages respond properly,and
Apt-Daemon installs them with no problems now.) At a
Ubuntu-workshop,we went into Grub,then to edit,by entering 'e'.Did a
recovery/
system.(Problem was likely caused by my own inexperience-saw a
Terminal-script for disabling Root-User.Seemed simple enough: bad
frigging idea,of course.Could not re-enable Root-User! Grub seems to
have fixed all else;however it left comment: 'no longer required

So,that's where I'm at.Will have to look that up.Still too
clueless, where Terminal is concerned-don't trust myself there
yet.Thanks-Again; John.

I dumped it and went with a partition of Redhat and Win XP 64 / mine had
nothing to do with money and all about security and speed.
I've had no problems with Redhat and must remain with Windows because of
some apps and other things related to Android.
Must I remind the children here this is a trouble shooting board, not
someones attempt to teach Microsoft economics?
I appreciate all the help thats been given and understand the app is free,
I'm a donator.
When some of the bugs disappear I'll return but have to much on my plate to
do reinstalls.

my goal is not to troubleshoot baboontu either.
all i have to do is just load my simple app and compile it.
that seems too hard for such a superior os that was cleanly installed from a
fresh distro into a virgin VM.

Sudo apt get remove
Sudo apt get update
Then
Sudo apt get upgrade
Then try to install again
This solved for me :)

What worked for me was:
dpkg -C
This will tell you which packages are borked. Remove those packages,
update, then install.

The bug occured but the program had been installed succesfully. The problem was that in software center there still was an "Install" button. So I was unable to neitehr get rid of it or install it properly. Software Center didn't work as it should so I tried to open Synaptic. When I did it a message appeared to run in a terminal "sudo dpkg --configure -a". After that I easily got rid of the improperly installed program and was able to give another try which was succesful.

I took this from previous posts (note that some state the command as "apt get", it should be "apt-get":
sudo apt-get update
then
sudo apt-get install
that seemed to work for me
My duplicate bug was: 785998

I'm no longer sure which bug-report this is.But,I did manage to fix
several issues with the Unity-Desktop via 'Compiz-
up in Ubuntu-Software.It seems to have good reviews, overall. For those
of you whose command-line skills are not that good, like mine; it
solved the Unity troubles,by deselecting this feature of 11.04
automatically! (Note: had previously selected "Ubuntu-Classic",at
bottom of screen, upon login.)Even this didn't seem to completely solve
problems with 11.04,though.It was only on install of Compiz-Manger
utillity, that 11.04 seemed to work smoothly again.
(It offers a graphical-interface for those who aren't very familar
with Terminal-commands or problem-solving via that route.Beyond that,I
know nothing;just that it worked for me.)You can also do an online
search: Fix Ubuntu 11.04.(Also did that.Helped in leading me to this
possible solution. John.

Daniel,

go irritante, la acepto.
Yo me despido
a usar).

No te miento, he llegado a pasar más

No me
Solamente sugiero, repito no soy nadie y ésto

abre me voy a Windows y me quedo tranquilo ahí.

Me

This seems to be causing problems all over my new install?

Matt; Thanks for your response of June 17th.Have resolved this problem
by reinstalling 10.10 Ubuntu, and then reupgrading back up to
11.04.(Chose "Ubuntu-Classic",at login.)Other part of solution was to
download and install Compiz-
of the Unity-desktop,in Ubuntu 11.04.Everything seems to work fine
now, since a month or so.)Note: this may only be a solution for newbies
like me,who don't really know command-line fixits!(Even at that,this
fix doesn't work upon a reinstall of Ubuntu 11.04....it seems you have
to reinstall from 10.10,or earlier for this to work via GUI only. Why?
Because you'll be unable to choose the "Ubuntu-
option,at login.(Without command-line hammering and mods.,of
course.)So,if you're a newbie,you can try this.But even at that,I
can't say for certain, how I got it to work-wish there were
night-school courses in Ubu! Sincerly, John.

I am unable to accept the EULA. I have tried various methods. This does go a bit over my head, but I am fairly certain that my system does not lock. Being unable to accept the EULA is a sign that the problem as it has
been stated still exists on your system. You need to run a dpkg command
and then 'sudo apt-get install [software whose name i forgot]', which is
buried somewhere in all the crap that people have been sending, sort of
like writing code but not bothering to document what they are doing. If
you go back into the history of this ridiculous bug-track, you'll find
the commands to which I am referring.

Hi Surya
Sorry but I'm in hollydays now , it's why i dont looking my email since times.
Anyway i have the same trouble of you, my problem coming from the packet "customiz.
When you reinstall, ( don't format) you have a choice to install the new OS on the old one and keep all your config, softs etc... and it control if all your softs is rigth for the OS 11.04 if not it delete it (if you have make a update and you keep all your softs from 10.10) it's a very good option.
It take long time do do this job, for me all the night until afternoon but it do it very well, no problem but make a copy first of all your important things you have on this OS, in case!!!
Ubuntu 11.04 have still some bug somewhere but it's a very good OS with softwares for about everythings, very fast, light, easy to do and all for free...
I hope this info help you, let me know.
Have a good day.

Actually, what the problem is has to do with launchpad and its failure
to terminate due to resolution. Blaming Ubuntu for launchpad is like
blaming the roadway if a bus hits a pedestrian. I understand your
frustration, but don't blame Ubuntu for it.

In Precise the issue doesn't appear since there is a race between the
simulate() and the run() method which eats the exception. This race
situation has been fixed in trunk recently that hasn't been uploaded
yet.
Furthermore aptdaemon trunk now catches the exception in the
apt.cache.
with an ERROR_INCOMPLET
this anymore - although the issue isn't fixed on the lower level
(debconf/apt).
Unfortunately software-center doesn't handle the
ERROR_INCOMPLET
message but doesn't offer to run the FixIncompleteIn
aptdaemon which would basically run "dpkg --configure -a" and fix the
system.
Additionally the current error message doesn't contain any hind to run
sudo dpkg --configure -a manually.
But it seems to be a first step to resolve the issue. I will try to
create a working patch for s-c in the next days.

By manual configuration of dpkg you mean executing "sudo dpkg
