Bug Description
Tried to install Gparted via Ubuntu Software Center, but it stalled out. I restarted my computer (before it was done, because it was taking so long), and tried to install again. It said it was already installed, but I couldn't find it. I went to uninstall it, but aptdaemon says I can't. Then I tried to install another program, and it said something was wrong with aptdaemon again. Here is the report that it returns from trying to remove Gparted:
installArchives() failed: dpkg: error processing gparted (--remove):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
reinstall it before attempting a removal.
Errors were encountered while processing:
gparted
and here's what I get from trying to install Deskbar (which I was going to use to try and manually remove gparted):
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/
return self._simulate_
File "/usr/lib/
return depends, status, self._cache.
File "/usr/lib/

SystemError: E:I wasn't able to locate file for the gparted package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.
