Ubuntu Software Center unable to install package.

Bug Description

I get the following message when trying to install any package from the Ubuntu Software Center:

An Unhandlable error has occurred:

There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks. Please report this error at http://launchpad.net/aptdaemon/+filebug and retry.

Here is the info from the details screen:

SystemError: E:I wasn't able to locate file for the ttf-mscorefonts-installer package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.

I was able to resolve this problem by re-installing ttf-mscorefonts-installer manually using apt-get. The installation requires user interaction to complete i.e. EULA agreement. With the install completed I am now able to install packages using the Ubuntu Software Center.

I am unable to install any application using apt-get too.
The error appears after downloading package-

Fetched 53.4MB in 5min 0s (178kB/s)
dpkg: status database area is locked by another process
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)

I have now resolved this bug using the recovery mode.
Recovering broken packages in dpkg helped and now i am able to install applications using ubuntu software center.
