SystemError: E:I wasn't able to locate file for the ttf-mscorefonts

I was able to resolve this problem by re-installing ttf-mscorefonts -installer manually using apt-get. The installation requires user interaction to complete i.e. EULA agreement. With the install completed I am now able to install packages using the Ubuntu Software Center.
