"install multimedia plugin" fails to download codecs on new ubuntu 10.10

i suppose this will help from details of error window:

SystemError: E:I wasn't able to locate file for the gstreamer0.10-fluendo-plugins-mp3-partner package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.

this problem happened every time i tried to play any multimedia files... when i downloaded vlc through synaptic it installed a codec which i had to agree to installing with a checkbox.... when if finished i tried again, it opened the original program that came with ubuntu and it asked me to download again some codecs... actually the list went from 3 codecs to just 1, and this time it did download that one that was left and the video started playing... so the problem is solved.... thank you and hope it helps other people...
