I had the exact same problem. It turns out my /home partition was full, so it couldn't write more data! However, it didn't tell me until I ran the profile manager and it couldn't write a new profile. Check your disk space. Perhaps firefox should be displaying a "can't save settings, clear files I'm out of disk space" alert.
kukalax (kukalax) wrote : I could not solve the problem | #3 |
Hi!
I could not solve the problem. I can not write a new profile and I have
105gb hard drive free. It is possible that the error was caused by
google earth 4.3. At the end I installed google earth 4.2 and he
returned to firefox 2. Use aptitude purge firefox 3.0, I reinstated
firefox 2 and the old setup has recognized me correctly.
Sorry for not be helpful.
Bye
PS: I do not speak English, the translation is made with google
traslativo, sorry.

This happened to me when my updates switched me from Firefox 3.0 Beta to 3.0 released (two days ago). It may helpful to note that if I sudo Firefox from the console, it works normally; i.e. it does find my bookmarks, etc. If I start Firefox from the console as normal user, though, I see this message:
(firefox:20016): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
So presumably it has to do with permissions or authority having been changed by some update or other.

I was able to fix my problem by deleting the origional profile and creating a new one. Follow the directions that Rich has listed in this discussion. Thanks Rich.

Same problem here...
But i do not have such a thing as "profiles"...
I'm using firefox 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.04
(firefox update was automaticly done by packet manager)
ledlincoln (ldietrich) wrote : | #9 |
Yes, creating a new profile does fix it. Firefox does not even prompt for which profile to use. Looks like the old one was stored in /etc/firefox and the new one is in /etc/firefox-3.0.
This is still a bug, however, since I suspect many users will not be happy having lost their bookmarks, settings, history, etc.

Just experienced same problem. "sudo firefox" solved the problem, but this is of course an unacceptable solution from a security point of view. Then I noticed that a couple of files in my firefox profile directory were owned by root for some reason. (Might this be the result of installing a new toolbar as root? (which I did...))
Thus, upon executing "sudo chown -R <my username>:<my username> " here my problem was solved :)
The profile directory can be found in ~/.mozilla/
hope this helps

Background info:
Just like osfast, my Firefox problem happened when i

(There were some files in my profile that were
owned by root. This must have happened when i
installed Google Earth.)

It isn't an erosion of smokers' rights, it's a limitation of their ability to infringe upon the apparent right of smokeless air for all other people.
Saying something was worse than it is now does not prove that the current condition is the ideal. As someone who did not experience indoor smoking (thank god for that), I'd rather not have to breathe it in when trying to enjoy a meal on a patio. Maybe someday I'll get to walk down the street without breathing in someone's smoky trail.

While I disagree with any restrictions to free speech, what the man said absolutely falls under hate speech under British laws. There is a way to criticize non-EU immigration, and this is not it.
You do yourself, and other people opposed to non-EU migration (including me, at times - only fools are convinced they are absolutely right), a disservice, by likening them to this bloke. You make it sound like it's impossible to criticise immigration without being an insufferable twat - and it is not, because there are plenty of educated, informed people who dislike current forms of immigration.
Find me an example of a person criticizing immigration without being an utter cunt about it, and without clearly violating a (very stupid) British law, who has been arrested for it. Don't pick one example of hate speech and say "all criticism is banned", it's honestly very dishonest of you.

Your boyfriend wants his body to reflect on the outside what is on the inside. If you're a straight guy, and you're not interested in dating another guy, then nobody can fault you for wanting to break up with your boyfriend. He had to have known that this was a possibility when he came out to you as trans, even if you didn't fully understand what that meant at the time.
You obviously care for him though, let him know that you'll be there for him through all this as a friend, but that you can't continue in a romantic and sexual relationship with him.
Also, you need to stop referring to him as a "girl" and "she." Your boyfriend has expressed to you that he is trans, that he is actually male, and is looking to go through the physical changes. You calling him a girl, and using the female pronoun could very well be hurting him.

Except that no where in the civilized world is particularly worried about rapes in the street or is so dangerous that you need a gun to walk safely barring some very specific areas. If you want a gun in your home to protect your family, fine, but it serves absolutely no purpose when you bring it into public areas. Unless, like I mentioned, you're prepared to take the lives of everyone around you into your hands when you pull that weapon, because that is exactly what you are doing. It's vigilantism mixed with a dose of national pride and self confidence that you ought to be the one who decides whether someone lives or dies.
Edit: I trust the police more than I trust you, and I trust them very little. But atleast I know what I'm dealing with when the police are around.

At long range, I use the basic stutter step technique, step, stop, shoot, repeat.
At medium range I tend to run and tap fire. (basically spraying, but shooting much slower and controlled shots)
AND I only full on spray if the enemy is exceptionally close to me, like... knifing distance kind of close.
I would recommend doing this as well, but remember to adapt it to your own play-style, oh and don't forget to ALWAYS aim for the head! Good luck in your games!

I'm in the same boat as you. My flatmates who I've been too anxious to socialise with these past couple of months asked me to join them tonight, but I lied and said I had plans already.
I'm sat at home, browsing Reddit, and will probably watch some Netflix in a bit.
Honestly, I wish I wasn't this way, and I feel lonely, but I just needed to spend this time by myself. Reflecting on 2014, and trying to plan on how I can better myself as a person in 2015.
Happy New Year to yourself. I wish you the best and happiest 2015 possible.

Consent to sex is consenting to parenthood though. When you choose the action, you choose the consequences including the unlikely ones. If you don't want this, then you need to take measures to prevent it such as sterlization procedures or abstinence until you've met someone you do want to have children with.
Obviously there should be exceptions for those who don't consent or those who aren't considered legal adults but otherwise you take that risk as a fertile adult. If you can't handle that then don't have sex. Pretty simple solution.

I beat t9 last night and picked up the quest Alisaie's Resolve in North Than for final coil. I was told to go speak to Urianger, and got the completed quest icon next to it (the green icon). Today, the icon was yellow. I went to Urianger and had nothing, no icons over his head. I abandoned the quest, hoping I could reset it (I'm guessing it's a glitch or something), but Alisaie is not in North Thanalan anymore.
Is there a way for me to get this quest again? Do I have to complete t9 again?

Hi,
Could you try creating a new profile and seeing how many of these problems go away? That way, we can see if it's your Firefox install or your Firefox profile (or both) that have issues. :)
To create a new profile, make sure all of your Firefox windows are closed, then open a terminal (Accessories- >Terminal, by default), or go to the Run Application dialog (Alt-F2, by default), and run "firefox -ProfileManager", without quotes. You should see the option to create a new profile, in addition to being able to choose a profile.
Then report back with how many of your problems remain, and how many were resolved.
(I'm guessing it's your Firefox installation, not just your profile, that's broken, but I'd like to confirm this. :))
