Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

Install fails with dialog "Requires installation of untrusted packages" -with no option to accept anyway. This happens for almost every package I have tried (including gvim and mozilla software). Cannot locate a preference or way to override.
The same packages return a similar message with apt-get, but I can override the default "N" with y.

Hrm. Having the same trouble. This should be a very high priority bug, IMHO. The Software Center is automatically on the Favorites tab of the UNR interface, and will very likely be explored by new users. Such seemingly inexplicable behavior will confuse and demoralize new users. Priority +1000!

This is pretty similar to bug #443308, thought that bug seems to give a different error message.

coming late to the party where I see the resolution to the problem seems to be for the people who are not downloading from the Main Server have their problem corrected. I have the Same problem but my downloads all come thru the Main Server, so how do I correct the Problem?

same problem happened to me in maverick ...

i added mozilla daily PPA from their launchpad page (in "Software Sources") and then tried to update system. I got "Requires installation of untrusted packages"

1) when i try to refresh package lists i got "W: GPG error: http://ppa.launchpad.net maverick Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY EF4186FE247510BE"

2) I'm on company network behind firewall (only ports 443, 80 are open) so package managers cannot connect to keyservers to chceck keys

Also experiencing this issue. Was able to resolve by editing `/etc/apt/sources.list` to use the [Cc]anonical repository, as per <https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/serverguide/C/configuration.html>, then running `sudo aptitude update; sudo aptitude dist-upgrade`. I had been getting this warning message before the upgrade began any downloads; after changing the repo it goes right into downloading.

I had been using the same mirror (http://mirror.its.dal.ca/ubuntu/) without issues for some months now, and have not had a problem until now. I have done numerous updates since upgrading to Maverick and before experiencing this issue.

P.S. The warning message first began to be issued by `aptitude dist-upgrade` earlier today.
