Bug Description

Chinese language interface in the PDF support is not perfect,
because sometimes is a Chinese word (such as "厚", but in the PDF
reader for the directory will be displayed similar to the "辱"
Similar "胥" and the "青") to use its built-in browser PDF the same
word in the text and in a small directory (to the left of the
interface), the show is not the same (small directory is wrong).

Which suggests that there is a problem displaying some Chinese
characters in the PDF reader?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug, but unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description need to be in English.
We'd be grateful if you would then provide a description of the problem in this language.

Thanks!

I prefer not assign it to ubuntu-l10n-zh-cn, since xpdf-chinese-traditional is for traditional Chinese, and this bug can't be solved by translators.

I think this problem doesn't affect xpdf now, but still valid in evince/okular since they need poppler-data to be installed. We are now waiting for MIR of poppler-data and so we can install them as a part of language support.

Marking Invalid for xpdf-chinese-traditional and xpdf-chinese-simplified, and ubuntu-translation bug task should be left Triaged.

Thanks a lot for the update Aron. Do you think you could add a task for
Evince and Okular if they are affected by this?

Also if there is already a bug for the poppler-data MIR, it would be
useful to add a link to it in a comment.

Thanks!

The MIR of poppler-data is Bug #530452, and I'm now adding a task for evince. I need somebody to test whether okular really have the same problem.

Using the PDF[1] attached in bug 573377, I was able to confirm that Okular also needs poppler-data in order for Chinese characters to appear.

Just to note: Bug 616321 and bug 616322 are for making the packages for Evince and Okular depend on poppler-data, respectively.

Thanks Timmy, I think making evince and okular depend on poppler-data is a reasonable solution. We may want to concern about our release CD's disk space then.
