Hi Sam_.

Thanks for your bug report.

As you (and also Gabor Kelemen, who just assigned this bug to the german Ubuntu translators) can see, the program grsync does NOT use launchpad for translation sharing and is part of the universe repository:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/grsync

I can't even find an upstream connection where to report this translation bug to.

If anybody knows, where to report, please tell me. Otherwise it would probably be neccessary to locate and inform the developer by email or so.

Ok Sam_, from the Debian page [0] I was able to get a little bit closer …

I visited the OPByte Software homepage [1] and there it reads:

»OPByte: Contribute → Translations to other languages → For Grsync: download source code and look into the "po" folder; you'll find a file with ".po" extension for every language. … then send it to me.« The Project is hosted on Source Forge.

So I'll try to check out the german .po file and correct the string(s). Then I'll try to submit it back as a patch at Source Forge [2]. This way Piero Orsoni [3] (original programmer) and/or Martijn van Brummelen [4] (original maintainer) gets notified about it and supplied with the solution – to my understanding. Maybe Martijn has to be notified manually by email after that?!

I will report the progress here …

Thanks, Sam_, I'd overlooked that.

When I looked into the German .po file of Grsync, I noticed a lot of missing, some fuzzy, some bad and even some wrong strings in the German translation. So I spent the whole night now to completely rework and finish the German translation. The string …

Maybe some German strings will not fit into the proposed places in the GUI – if this is the case, please report back to me! I have uploaded the new .po file [1] upstream at the Source Forge project page [0] of Grsync now, see ID 3515982. Thanks for taking note of this.

@Subscribers: Please test the new German .po file and if it's ok, include it in the current/next release (for Ubuntu ;-)

I've read through the file with gedit. For consistency perhaps the term 'Lauf' (glade.h:114) in line 545 could be changed to 'Durchlauf'.

Hi Sam_.

I have changed »Lauf« to »Durchlauf« as you have suggested. Are you willing to test the new complete German translation and also look for truncations by the GUI? I have created the new file

 de_DE.mo

and attached it to this bug report. I guess you'd have to download it, rename it to something like …

 grsync.mo

and put it in the directory …

 /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES

or maybe …

 /usr/share/locale-langpack/de/LC_MESSAGES

I've informed upstream by adding the new translation, that you've just tested, to the bug report there. I also attached the new .po file to this report here.

@Martijn: Is the new German translation file de_DE.po useful to you? Can you replace it in the current release of grsync so it becomes available at the same time when Ubuntu Precise is released or should we just wait until upstream puts it into a new release of grsync and it automatically gets into the universe repository some time after the Precise release?
