Blueman : Bad German translation for "audio sink"

My bluetooth a2dp headset offers a service called "audio sink".
In the german locale it is shown as "Ton lässt nach" which makes it completely incomprehensible.

"audio sink" is already a bad term, it should probably be called "A2DP stereo audio service" and the same name could be used for the german translation (substituting "Dienst" for "Service").

To make two suggestion:
Literally:
audio source = Tonquelle
audio sink = Tonsenke

better:
audio source = Toneingang
audio sink = Tonausgang

At least the term “Audio Quelle” is wrong, too. Correct spelling would be “Audioquelle“.

Generally, I think “A2DP Stereo-Ton-Dienst“ is bad and replacing “Ton” by “Audio” doesn't improve the situation much, as both are termini technici. In case you want to express the connection to A2DP, you should use something like:

audio source (A2DP service) = Toneingang (A2DP-Dienst)
audio sink (A2DP service) = Tonausgang (A2DP-Dienst).

This is not in the »main« repository and therefore not translated by Ubuntu German Translators. However, I checked the upstream translation in Launchpad and it seems like it was updated. The current translations are:

audio source = Audio-Quelle
audio sink = Audio-Ausgabegerät

These translations are adequate as far as I can judge from my knowledge of the software's purpose. At least grammatic and spelling are correct. If you would like to make a different suggestion please join the team »Launchpad German Translators« and make your suggestion at the project's translation page in Launchpad.

The upstream translations will probably land in Ubuntu Raring 13.04. An update for older Ubuntu releases is not possible. Nevertheless, if you want to have the current translations you can download them from Launchpad (.po), compile it to .mo and replace the existing translation file on your system. Hope that helps. Sorry all for writing now in german. I know launchpad is englich but it is a problem with the german translation, so I think it is better to talk in german about it.

Was mich interessiert ist, warum "audio" zu "Audio" übersetzt wurde und nicht zu "Ton". Nicht nur bei blueman sondern auch in anderen Teilen von Ubuntu.

Audio kommt aus dem Latein und ist sicherlich auch inzwischen eingedeutscht. Aber was ist so schlimm an dem Wort Ton?

Und wenn Audio genommen wird, dann sollte der Bindestrich weggelassen werden. Oder, weil es kein deutsches Wort ist und deswegen der Bindestrich genommen wird, einfach übersetzen und Ton nehmen.

Es kann übrigens aus Launchpad auch die .mo Datei runtergeladen werden.

I'm perfectly fine with using »Ton« instead of »Audio« but we will have to discuss this on the German translators mailinglist to get a consitent translation throughout the system.

The original bug report, however, was complaining about a different issue as far as I can see.

Running Ubuntu 13.04 with all available updates installed, the German Blueman menus still say "Ton lässt nach". Why has this bug been marked "Fix Released"?

I corrected the affected strings in Launchpad (I do not own a Bluetooth headset to test it however). It is Fix Released on the translation's side since we fixed what we can fix.

Nevertheless, I'll mark this as affecting blueman. As I said before, Blueman is not in the »main« repository and therefore might not be part of the LanguagePack. This means an updated package has to be submitted by the Blueman package maintainers to include updated translations. Or their migth be something wrong with the coding …
