Bug Description

I'm already a user and when starting ubuntuone-preferences and enter my existing account I do get the screen telling me to enter the verification code I'm getting per email. I've tried that several times, but never received a mail. Checked spam folder but nothing there. I've even tried to register a new account with another email address, but same issue there.

attached are the sso logs from cache

HI Ralph!

Thanks for the report. I'm working on debugging this in our end.

In the mean time, could you please confirm what ubuntu version are you running?
Also, could you please try to validate your account going to http://login.ubuntu.com/+new_account ?
An email will be sent to your primary email with a code that you need to enter in the web site.

Ubuntu One needs a validated user account in order to proceed.

Thanks!

I'm using Ubuntu Maverick

I went to the mentioned URL and put my password and wanted to update and was told the password is not fullfiling the required security. I've so far always used this password. Anyway, I've now configured a new password and clicked on update and got confirmation

Your account details have been successfully updated

However no email received. I've also checked again spam folder

The login was working fine after the first installation. However I was suffering from Bug #686157. Therefore I've tried to upgrade to a nightly version and it was not working so I've completely removed it and installed again the original ubuntu maverick version and since then I've this issue

Hi Ralph,

So, to confirm I'm looking at the right log file, please let's do this:

* confirm no process is running for ubuntuone-syncdaemon, ubuntuone-preferences and ubuntu-sso-login. To do so, in a terminal (Accessories -> Terminal), run the following:

killall ubuntuone-preferences; killall ubuntuone-syncdaemon; killall ubuntu-sso-client

* remove all the logs located at ~/.cache/sso/

* open the program 'seahorse' and remove all your Ubuntu One tokens

* in a terminal, run:

u1sdtool -c

(this will start the ubuntuone syncdaemon and connect it to the cloud). The SSO login window should be opened automatically asking you to either register or login. Please try to login with your existent account.

If the login does not succeed, please attach the freshly created logs from ~/.cache/sso/

Thanks!

I've done all the points, however there is no token for Ubuntu One in seahorse

u1sdtool -c brings me back to the point where I put my login and password and should get verification code per mail. Therefore no logs

Ralph,

after u1sdtool -c, you should have sso logs in the folder I mentioned (~/.cache/sso/), even if you get the message that the account is not validated yet.

This is interesting. I've just updated to latest packages on Maverick. There was also a new one for Ubuntuone. Afterwards I did a reboot and I do have the attached log file. I've renamed it

Doing the steps above, does not give me any log file

Hi Ralph,

in the former report you mentioned you opened ubuntuone-preferences as root, which makes me fear the log directory are not writable by your regular user. To check this, could you please paste the output of:

ls -l ~/.cache/

ls -l ~/.cache/sso

ls -l ~/.cache/ubuntuone

Also, from the ralph.txt log, I'm seeing an "Unauthorized" exception, which in most cases means that the pair (username, password) is not correct. Can you please confirm you're using the correct password?

If you are familiar with an IRC client, you can reach me in the #ubuntuone IRC channel, at irc.freenode.net, my nickname is nessita.

Natalia.

If you can reach me on IRC, we can debug the issue much faster. In the mean time, would you please send me the ~/.cache/sso/sso-client.log ? It appears to be last modified on 2010-12-14, so I would like to see the latest entries.

Thanks!

Hi Ralph,

the log file keeps saying that your account is not validated, so we need to debug further since it is.

Until you find the time to look for me on IRC, please share all the output resulting from doing this:

In a terminal:

u1sdtool -q
killall ubuntu-sso-login
killall ubuntuone-syncdaemon
killall ubuntuone-preferences

Next, in the same terminal, run:

DEBUG=True python /usr/lib/ubuntu-sso-client/ubuntu-sso-login

This command will output a lot of messages, leave it running and in a second terminal run:

u1sdtool -c

After the login dialog is raised, try to login one more time. If verification code is asked, please copy the whole output of the command above and put in on a file, and attach it to this bug.

Thanks!

HI Ralph,

I'm 'nessita' on irc at freenode, feel free to ping me. With the debug output you pasted I can see what the problem may be, but is indeed very weird.

Could you please confirm what version of ubuntu-sso-client do you have installed? To do so, please paste the output of:

apt-cache show ubuntu-sso-client

Thanks!

Hi Ralph,

The version you have is not the latest, latest is 1.07, you can get it by just updating.
Last Friday, we have released yet a new version, 1.0.8, that can be installed by enabling the maverick-proposed repository as per these instructions:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed

Let me know how the login goes after installing these updates. Thanks!

Hi Ralph!

I'm sorry that I didn't answer sooner, I lost the notifications from this bug report.

I just notice that you're running a new version of the SSO client, maybe because you have the Ubuntu One nightlies installed? If so, please update, you should be upgraded to 1.1.9. In version 1.1.8, we fixed a bug that look very similar to your problem (bug #693531).

Please let me know how it went. Once again, sorry for the huge delay on getting back to you.

Cheers!
