Unless you are sure about that I don't think so because that's the
default placeholder indicating you should write a mailing list address
there. You should include a valid address of your (German)
localization team, i.e. who to contact when you're unable to continue
translating.

Next update of the po-file (88%).

In reply to comment #10: To my best knowledge there is no team for german localization. I googled a bit and searched through the inkscape website but with no result.
My only contact was uwesch. Maybe he knows more?

Hi,

there is no german translation team. I'm the only one who was
translating in the last time.

I'm really really sure you're missing some details: http://translationproject.org/team/de.html
That's where your translations should have already been proofread and reviewed, and where you should coordinate your work. I've already expressed some concerns regarding de translation in the past, and this isn't changing my mind.
Please (once again) try to coordinate your work and have it reviewed by your team.

Hi,

the German translation team does not support the inkscape project. So there is no team at all.
So it is my job to coordinate the work ;)

I think, it would be a good idea to embed our efforts of translating into a greater framework.
The work so far lacks continuity. And someone who at least could provide newcomers with some hints where to start and which files to fetch would be great. Also a central point where to report translation-bugs to is necessary.

So the question would be, where to find this framework. Inkscape website mentions the gnome translation team, Luca brings translationproject.org into play. Both don't support inkscape at the moment. Also having all the translations for all languages under the same roof would be sensible. Does anybody know where the translation teams for other countrys are hosted?

I think I'm still not explaning myself as I'd want. My point is, there's nothing which explicitely supports only Inkscape translation. There are however various teams for major projects translation (eg. kde-l10n, gnome-l10n) plus some sort of catch-all umbrella (eg. the TP) which you may refer to.

I'll outline the Italian situation: I'm the current translator and coordinator; I sometime receive other contributions and work on translation with other guys, thus coordinating with them. Anyway, we're not by ourself a framework. Then there exists various other project, like gnome-l10n, debian-translation, kde-18n, gnu-l10n, openoffice-it which focus on their own projects. Plus we have a TP where all other application translators (ie. inkscape, scribus, gimp and many others) refer to. There, we have a common glossary, frequent translations for standardized terms and a common approach. There all translations are reviewed and discussed before being upload, to maintain a certain degree of quality and uniformity. But, as you may have understood, there's nothing like "they told me they only work to support inkscape". Inkscape there is just a part of a wider puzzle. The key is not the single application, but uniformity and quality of free software. That's way I was quite concerned about your actual procedures.

Just for reference, this the Italian TP: http://tp.linux.it/
I really think something similar exists for German too. If not (higly dubious), you would better coordinate and review between you guys, just for a start :)

For me the point here is, that there is no team which supports Inkscape - may it be in an explicit or implicit way - as of yet. But I agree with Luca that this would improve the quality of translation. So uwesch and I should find an agreement if we move the translation e. g. to translationproject.org. Until then it will be just the two of us and "<email address hidden>" in the language-team header...

This kind of menu label is very unusual - is it common use in other german ui translations? At first sight it's the only menu in Inkscape with ' »' in the main menu bar and looks wrong (aus meiner Sicht ;-)

| 14336 #: ../src/ui/dialog/inkscape-preferences.cpp:1047
| 14337 msgid "System default"
| 14338 msgstr "Zur Vorgabe machen"

'Inkscape Preferences > Interface > Language': 'System default' (first entry): the german translation is technically wrong IMHO.

"System default": AFAIU Inkscape uses the OS locale settings (usually $LANG or other OS-specific mechanisms). Choosing a specific language will override the system-wide language default.
"Zur Vorgabe machen": This looks more like the heading or description of the language list and does not tell the user that it is a setting itself.

Unfortunately I do not have a better translation ATM - but maybe you know what I mean? Is there any other common phrase for 'system default' (and not: _set_ system default) in German?

Last translation before release?!

100% (0/0) and some corrections.

I would like to show the user a translated splash (about.de.svg instead of about.svg), but I have to wait for the artist (sko) to alter the graphic. This de.po still points to the standard about.svg.

Until when is it possible to submit the (very last) version? And where to put the about.de.svg?

I'm afraid it's probably not. Maybe one more before string freeze.

Almost until the release date... Which is not known precisely yet (maybe next week???)

> And where to put the about.de.svg?
You can send it here. Don't forget to change your po file accordingly.

Translation error:
If you enable the snap indicator the german translation of the tooltip uses the wrong preposition, it says for instance
"Ecken der Umrandungsbox von Seite der Umrandungsbox" where the word 'von' actually has to be 'an'.

(Or is it meant to mean: 'X gefangen von Y'? But this is would be confusing, because the tooltips for the buttons which enable snapping are all translated 'An ... einrasten'.)

I guess it's the string in line 4314 of de.po (in the previous attachment from uwesch):

#: ../src/display/snap-indicator.cpp:241
msgid " to "
msgstr " von "

But right now I can't compile to check if it's right string in the file. Can anyone check that?
I will attach a screenshot to make sure which string I mean.
