Bug Description

[ Impact ]

Search

[ Test case ]

1. From settings:
  a. Enable non-fractional scaling of 200%
  b. Show the dock on the left side
  c. Enable dock auto-hide

2. Hit Super key and search for any result
3. Hitting Enter key or clicking on an application icon should launch it

[ Regression potential ]

App grid has wrong sizes or not properly visible

---

The problem happens, when I enable the dock to hide automatically. With this enabled, it is not possible to run the programs through the search. But when disabled, it is possible to search and run the programs. Here's the video of the problem.

Mh, I don't see real error related to this, can you maybe attach the full log?

Ideal would be:
 - Enable auto-hide
 - Replicate the issue
 - Get the log and attach it here

Thanks

Auto-hide was enabled at the time, and I did replicate the issue. Other than trimming the repeated instances of "Timelines with detached actors are not supported." that is the full log for the session, which started from a cold boot. If that error's not relevant, then I don't have any more information to provide you from that log.

Okay, I just discovered that it seems to be related to display scaling as well. I normally run with scaling set to 200% on my laptop as I find everything a bit small otherwise. Under this scaling, it does not work correctly. If I set the scaling back to 100%, then it works as expected.

It's related to display scaling, using 200% has this issue. In my case I need to use display scaling otherwise the texts are extremely small on my screen.

Running Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS x86_64 I noticed the bug only happens when:

- Non-fractional scale is set to 200%
- Dock set to auto-hide
- Dock position is "left"

If either one condition isn't met, searched items function as expected.

I manually installed the 74ubuntu2 release on my Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS system, and this release does not appear to fix the issue. I can also confirm that Merci's description of the requirements to trigger the bug also affect me in the same way. However, doing some additional checking, I can expand this to:

- Scaling greater than or equal to 200% (fractional or non-fractional)
- Dock set to auto-hide
- Dock position is "left"
- All other dock options have no impact

A scale of 175% does not activate the bug, only 200 and greater.

Hi Andreas,

 1. Enable proposed updates from the Developer options in Software & Updates
 2. Run `sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/jammy-proposed`

Im not quite sure if im missing something. I also tried downloading and installing the .deb file, with no change in the dock behavior.
