why has gusty been rel like this

If it cant get an list of updates it should Never turn off the updates for ever as it does

its done this in Ubuntu and Kubuntu

allso the Network manager should ALLways Look for an IP address from DHCP as i have to click offline and back to Online to get it from 0.0.0.0 IP address

this is inside an VMware box but if i had an firewire card installed and no network pluged in it may remove the securty updates (removed all repos)

This patch looks curious -- If you change the function declaration, don't you need to adapt the places where it's called?

I tried to do an update this morning (7 hrs ago) and it failed checking for updates. Then it did remove some of the repositories like main and recommended etc. When this gets resolved, will it automatically enable or will every user need to know to go back in there and enable them again.

It prompted me to upgrade to a gutsy gibbon. I m not using fiesty anymore. I made the mistake of installing the beta version of gutsy gibbon. I use Kubuntu.

Please help.

A reporter say that wizard doesn't appear automatically in Adept (following this procedure https://help.ubuntu.com/community/GutsyUpgrades) also with adept2.1.2ubuntu26.2. In addition to this a crash is reported when "--version-upgrade" option is used for Adept in Feisty.
Please check the report 153016 and mark as duplicate, if you think this is appropriate.

Maybe we should keep the feisty--X-->gutsy and gutsy-->gutsy problem seperated.

There is a seperate Bug #154213 that mentions Gutsy still wanting to upgrade to Gutsy.

i'm trying to upgrade from feisty to gutsy, but after the upgrade software passes the "modifying the software channels" it says i have some libs that won't be supported anymore and then it says:

"Could not calculate the upgrade

A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport."

i'm sending the files in the attachment, someone knows what do i have to do?

i also tried to upgrade from the cd but it just doesn't happen.
no error message is displayed, nothing.

tks.

I clean installed Kubuntu 7.10 from CD on new partitions, not upgrading from 7.04.

Adept Manager asks me to update some adepts packages and after that it says a new upgrade version is available. (in fact it means 7.10)
This has happened twice in this week.

(I also got a screen shot of adept, I don't know whether it is needed.)

I think the key is make sure that adept has downloaded the latest updates.
Then, restart your system. Adept should no longer have the upgrade issue.
One of the latest updates seems to have fixed it.

Err...I don't know what you guys call "fixed" but I just updated some packages and at the end of the updates, it says there is a new version available and I can still choose to install it. When I do, it checks some stuff, fetches packages, warns about ending support for some package and then suddenly gives an error saying i already have the latest version. So it still does the same as before (and as already described above)

my setup:
Last week, I installed Xubuntu 7.10 release candidate and then used "apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" to install kubuntu aswell. I've already run the "distribution upgrade" various times but it still comes back after every update.

On my pc at my dorms I have a clean kubuntu 7.10 install (no xubuntu, no RC). It too had the bug when I updated on wednesday or thursday. When I get back there on sunday, I'll see if I still have the bug there.

I have version 2.1.3ubuntu17 (not 17.1) so I suppose I need the new
version. But how do I get the new version? I would expect it to
automatically be installed by adept, along with the other updates. the
bug report says the fix was released no?

I certainly got the impression from Martin Pitt's comment that the update had been made live, however I originally installed it by selecting "Proposed Updates" in Adept Manager, upgrading all of the Adept-related packages, and then de-selecting the proposed updates.

SavageFX (savagefx) wrote :

adept manager -> "Adept" menu -> manage repositories -> "updates" tab
There I choose "pre-release updates" and "unsupported updates" closed again and did "fetch updates". I actually see "gutsy-proposed/universe" (and also main, multiverse, restricted) in the list of locations it's checking. It doesn't show any updates so it just goes back to the general list of all packages.
I also tried apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, both show no available updates.
I also used update manager and it said my system was up-to-date
I also reset my computer after all this and tried again with adept. still the same...

So I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't see how I should upgrade to the new adept version so the bug is fixed. Perhaps I'll just wait until it's an official update and perhaps it will download and install by itself then.
