1002:95c4 [Satellite Pro P300-16V] GPU locks up and the screen turns white

Bug Description

At random, if I'm using ANY 3D program or game (except, strangely, window managers, including compiz, gala, mutter, etc)... the GPU will lockup, the screen redraws with a bunch of lines at the bottom, and then it begins to turn white. I wish I could give more information but each time it happens the system locks up completely and I have to force it to restart (which is NOT good). This problem was happening on Ubuntu 12.10 and persists into 13.04.

Roland (Rolandixor) Taylor, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[ 33.550027] platform microcode: Direct firmware load failed with error -2

As well, as per http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/download_bios.jsp?service=UK an update is available for your BIOS (4.20). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and just provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Thank you for your understanding.

Is that the correct link for more on upgrading the BIOS?

I think you linked to the wrong one lol.
