For the reasons listed in my previous comment, I have removed this section from the Lucid docs. If Ubuntu developers release a similar tool in the future, we should include info about it in the docs. If anybody has other ideas for users to easily troubleshoot suspend/

could somebody provide something similar to the quirk-checker script for the new setup (for lucid) without HAL? it was useful...
i, for one, have a problem with suspend and hibernate and would like to fix it... quirk-checker helped with this!
i have sent in bug reports, but being able to do something oneself and not burden others is nice!
thank you

I guess the same action could be taken with xubuntu-docs and remove the section with the broken link.

Verified the xubuntu-docs are now correct in 10.04.1, using a fresh installation in VirtualBox, fully updated before enabling proposed. Thanks for the hard work getting this done.

I just realized that I google takes you to the 9.10 documentation for hibernate/suspend, and the "quirk checker" tool no longer exists, so I will not be running it.

Sorry, commented on the wrong bug -- but I guess it's relevant here too.
Search google for "ubuntu hibernate" (http://
A possible solution could be to put a link on that page to the hibernate/suspend page for the current distribution, if that's possible.

I found a version of the quirk-checker script on the Mandriva forums - http:// forum.mandriva. com/viewtopic. php?t=106967
It seems a little outdated, and has some information that may be incorrect in it now. For example, I think HAL has been removed from Lucid, the NVIDIA and ATI drivers should support suspend, etc... And of course, it is not specific to Debian/Ubuntu. I think it may be better if we simply remove this section from the docs. If Ubuntu developers want to write something with a similar purpose, I think that would be more appropriate.
