Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Visualizations appear to -start- in Ubuntu 9.10's version of Rhythmbox, but on my system they only get as far as a single frame and don't display any more than that. Rhythmbox itself does not appear to be crashing as visualizations can be turned back off and on again, but they'll never actually appear in motion. This was not an issue on the same system running 9.04.

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

I've reported the bug upstream, Sebastien, just like I have the other ones. No answer there yet either. I guess if it's not an Ubuntu issue and it's not an upstream issue then I must be imagining that it doesn't work? :>

Thousands of bugs waiting there and few people, thousands of bugs waiting here and few people. Hmm. And just to make it clear, the process you're now asking me to follow is: report it here, report it upstream, report the upstream bug -back- here, ???, profit? :P Sure, I'll humour you: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=600465

As you can see, nobody was of any help _there_ either.

it's perhaps because they are most annoying issues than effects in a music player to work on

Oh, well I'm truly sorry that the bug I had to report just isn't important enough for anyone to pay attention to. Thanks for that.

I am getting a problem similar to what was mentioned in Bug #566163, which was marked as a duplicate of this one. I went to listen to an online radio station, then tried turning on visualizations. At that point, the visualization would display only the first frame, then freeze, and the music would stop. If I turned off the visualization, the music would start playing again.

I think it might be important of me to note that visualizations still work perfectly fine (and with sound) if I'm listening to the .ogg lecture recordings I keep on my hard drive.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04.1 64-bit with Rhythmbox 0.12.8.

I am having the same problem here. I also use Ubuntu 9.10. I am running it on a Dell latitude E6400. I have 3 gigs of ram. This has one of those obnoxious on-board Intel video cards that shares memory with the system ram. Maybe that has something to do with it. It used to work fine. It worked fine after the upgrade to 9.10, but at some point a few months ago it just started freezing after one frame.
