I went through the XsessionErrors log and this seemed to be the pertinent error:

(rhythmbox:13119): Rhythmbox-CRITICAL **: rb_property_view_set_selection: assertion `RB_IS_PROPERTY_VIEW (view)' failed

Yes, I have been able to reproduce this bug. If I go to Rhythmbox and play an internet radio station, my sound cuts out and my visualization does not work.

does the sound come back? how does the visualization doesn't work? does it crash? does if freeze? do you get a blank display?

No, the sound doesn't come back. The visualization doesn't work by not showing anything on the screen. I would call that a crash. If I define "freeze" as "the screen is blank" then yes, it freezes. Yes, I get a blank display.
