Visualization fails

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Clicking on the visualization icon on the toolbar stops the music after about 1 second and shows something which should become the visualization, but blocks. So, a window is shown, but there's nothing in it or for some plugins one frame of animation is shown, after which the music stops and the animation does not go beyond showing that one frame. Changing visualization plugins didn't help. Whichever I choose, no animation occurs, and music stops playing. Rhythmbox does not hang, as clicking on the visualization icon again, and clicking on the play icon makes the playback of music continue.

When the music is stopped by the visualization window, clicking on the play icon does nothing at all.
