pidgin doesn't use theme background colour in notification area applet

In Lucid, pidgin uses the wrong background colour if you choose the Dust or New Wave themes. See attached screenshot (showing Dust).

I used your repository to update pidgin-data (it was the only one that offered an update) so I'm now running:

But it hasn't fixed the problem. The background is still light grey instead of dark grey.

Is pidgin going to remove its indicator from the notification area applet for Lucid (in which case this bug may not matter)? It is currently in both that applet and the indicator-applet.

@Rocko: did you restart your session after updating? The new pidgin tray icon is transparent for me in Dust and New Wave now...

By default, the pidgin tray icon has been disabled for a couple of releases now. It's something you must turn on yourself.

I did restart - I even logged out and back in again. I was using the Ambiance theme, though so maybe that made a difference?

But it is working correctly now. I've just upgraded pidgin to the ~md1 version (ie not just pidgin-data which was all I could upgrade yesterday) and just had to restart pidgin to get the right background colour. Perhaps I needed the updated the pidgin package too? Anyway, thanks for the fix.

Hi,

bug #532789 is a duplicate of this bug. I have marked it appropriately.

Also, there are other icons in Pidgin that have these transparency issues. One is the OTR-icon when OTR is enabled and the other is the icon notifying about new messages in the buddy list (right upper corner). I am attaching screenshots for both icons.

It might not be related to this bug, but I notice as well that the 'You have X new messages' text is hard to see because it is dark grey on black (in Ambiance and Dust). I'm pretty sure this is new, ie the version of Pidgin in Ubuntu 9.10 doesn't do it.
