Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

The tray icon is not transparent if I chose a solid color with a transparent style. It acts like it is using None (use system theme) by it self.

Other icons are looking nice

I can confirm this too. I am using plain metacity (no gnome-shell, no compiz) but with built-in composite support (activated by gconf key).

I'm pretty sure this is a regression, this used to work!

Also can confirm this. Not a major problem, but it decreases the "fit and finish" of the gnome interface, so to speak.

Got the same issue on Archlinux + Pidgin 2.6.5, so this must be an upstream bug.

I don't see this bug being fixed. I still got the same behavior using pidgin 2.6.6 on lucid.

i also have this kind of bug, what i see it only affect pidgin tray icons in jaunty not in any other applications.

i relized that bug occour only when I installed libstdc++5, before that process pidgin try icon was ok,
if I purged libstdc++5 , native tray icon of pidgin of isn't fixed i dont know why, maybe libstdc++ messes with some other packages.

Jaunty 9.04
Pidging 2.6.6 Lates or previous version (same things happens)

This problem is fixed with Lucid patches. I used them in Debian and the tray icon is OK now.
