I'm experiencing the same issue and would like to clarify, that for me it seems to be just the shadow of the top panel that is drawn above the maximized presentation, not the whole panel. I adjusted the title of this report accordingly, as I got the same impression from the posted screen-shots. Feel free to revert my changes, if my assessment of the issue doesn't correspond with your observations.
Also, I'd like to note that this problem does only occur with libreoffice-presenter-console installed, not when using the regular presentation mode of LO.

Johannes's description is accurate for the bug in my experience.

In addition I have notice that the problem with the shadow being drawn can occur on the presenter console as well.

This also links to a wishlist item bug #853865 where I describe this aspect as follows;
"If I click within the external display, that shadow disappears from the audience view, and appears on the presenter view. When I click on the presenter view on the laptop screen, the shadow returns to the audience view..."

This behaviour does allow one to remove the visible shadow from the audience view, albeit temporarily.

The wish list bug also asks for the top panel to be optional on the audience (external) display, as the launcher now is.

@ Johannes Albert: Thanks you for your description and your summary. English is not my native language and it is not easy to explain a problem, pictures is better than words in some case.

libreoffice-presenter-console could be in Ubuntu by Default because that is in windows and mac OS. A guy create a bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/824466) because he thinks presneter-console don't work, but this extension is not install: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/798299

I can confirm that this bug exists in an installed, up-to-date Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and on the Ubuntu 12.10 Live CD. You can clearly see the shadow on a white presentation (screenshot attached).

Anyone know if this is likely to be backported to 12.04 LTS?

Sorry, I didn't know that the -presenter-console is a binary package. So I didn't make package changes.

Yes, it looks like it and that's unfortunate, as I don't know how likely it is to see a backport. Firstly, someone would have to find out when/how exactly it has been fixed. I'm not even sure if it worked on the initial 12.10 release or not.

But it's definitely fixed on (a current) 12.10 with libreoffice-impress 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 and unity 6.12.0-0ubuntu0.2.

Feel free to re-open the bug, though. Ideally, there's a way to specify different statuses for different releases/versions of the package, but I don't know if that's possible.

This is possible by nominating the bug for series. According to the previous comments, this bug is fixed in Ubuntu 12.10, but not in Ubuntu 12.04 (precise). Therefore I nominated this bug for precise.

Please note that LibreOffice 3.5 is EOL upstream and we are supporting it only for security fixes and serious updates (see SRU rules for the reasoning). Also note that presenter console has become part of core LibreOffice with 4.0, so this (separate code) is essentially dead code.
As there:
- are no review capacities for this upstream
- the code is discontinued upstream
- its neither a security fix nor affecting core functionality
- its most likely a bug in unity 3d (as per comment #4 unity 2d is unaffected)
- there is no customer ticket for this one
- there is at least a workaround (use unity 2d)

I am closing this one as WONTFIX in LibreOffice (precise) for now. If this one is reopened for LibreOffice, it would be very interesting if the latest LibreOffice 3.6 and 4.0 versions for precise in:
https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/libreoffice-3-6
https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/libreoffice-4-0
also show this bug.

Changed in libreoffice (Ubuntu Precise):
status: Confirmed → Won't Fix

Can't reproduce this bug on Ubuntu 12.04.3 (Linux 3.8.0-34, Mesa 9.1.7, Unity 5.20.0) with LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 may be it's because i make a fresh install two months ago.

Someone reproduce the bug ??
