Binary package hint: openoffice.org

display problem equation in impress

for example, the square root symbol (but perhaps not only) of , the equation "%sigma=sqrt {%sigma^{2}}=sqrt{ sum from{i=1} to{n} {(X_i-overline {X})^{2}} over {n}} " is not well print. this is split in 2 pieces... a "V" and the "top line ".
This problem occurs with my both configurations (U10.04 and "his" openoffice(3.2.0) but also U10.10 and his Ooo3.2.1).

this original version of openoffice.org (Ooo3.2.1 downloaded and installed from www.openoffice.org) works fine.

i'm not alone ...http://user.services.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24454&p=133343#p133343

Thanks

Thierry

Thank you for your bug report.
This might actually a similar problem as https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice/+bug/585910 -- could you try whether switching off "Use hardware acceleration" (Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > View) makes the problem disappear?

Changed in openoffice.org (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed

Yes: with hardware acceleration switched off the problem disappears (OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 OOO320m19 (Build:9505) ooo-build 3.2.1.4, Ubuntu package 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1)

I'm using LibreOffice 3.3.0 and I have the same issue. Actually, all text is distorted if hardware acceleration is used and some specific fonts are chosen (e.g. TeXGyreAdventor, Century Schoolbook L) . When I switch the hardware acceleration off, the text looks good, but the figure's antialiasing stop working.

In summary: Beautiful figures, distorted text. Beautiful text (with the "bad" fonts), ugly figures =(.

LibreOffice is the solution! It works perfectly without disabling HW acceleration :)

There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
