Bug Description

This problem only exists with Lucid Lynx and Intel D945GCLF2 motherboard. I also have Asus M3N78-VM motherboard and it works just fine with that same Pinnacle DVB-T usbstick and Lucid Lynx. Every other distributions work just fine with Intel D945GCLF2 and Pinnacle stick so I guess it's not a hardware problem. Something to do with usb sub-system ?

Hi timsku,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 533891

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

This bug is still in the Ubuntu 10.04 release version. Intel D945GCLF2 Motherboard and USB is not working at all (USB-Ethernet Adapter, a couple of Memorysticks, external USB-Disks, nothing)

I can't directly update this bug through apport-collect, because Internet access is done through a usb-ethernet adapter (which is not working cause of this bug).

If you need any information / logs I'm happy to provide them, as long as no direct internet access is needed from the box with the bug.

I have just updated my homeserver based on an Intel D945GCLF2 board to Ubuntu 10.04. Unfortunately the server boots from a USB drive due to power saving and now I have a dead server complaining about EHCI errors :-(

Only if I disable USB 2.0 in the BIOS can I get it to boot (very slowly).

I've tried updating to the newest BIOS Version (V.0278 from 04/14/2010) but the error persists.

Did buy a Netgear router to get Internet access again. Thank you Ubuntu for that... Where can I send the bill of just short of 100 bucks?

Anybody around willing to actual WORK on this bug after only a month of looking at it?

Oh, and "apport-collect -p linux 533891" with lynx on my Server Edition will not work because "Launchpad requires a REFERER header to perform this action. There is no REFERER header present."

Trying the same thing with w3m will not work because of bug #15368 from April 2005, now talk about speed and quality... :-(

...and installing X11 + firefox plus buying Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor is only an option after I get the first bill paid :-)

With 2.6.34-020634rc6-generic everything seems to work so far. Though dmesg looks pretty ugly with many usb related errors.

I did more testing and looks like usb devices are still working very randomly. Sometimes (rarely) I can boot usbs plugged in and everything works fine. It feels like more reliable way is to plug in usbs after login.

Just tried to boot the 10.4 Desktop x86 Live CD via an USB stick prepared with unetbootin (there is no CDROM drive in the machine). After a lot of EHCI errors it seems to revert to UHCI and continue the boot albeit very slowly.

Lucid is practically unusable on the D945GCLF2 board for now :-(

Tried with the 10.04 desktop AMD64 version. EHCI did not work either on the D945GCLF2 board.

Lucid is running fine on two other computers (A Dell D420 w. Intel Core Duo and 945GMS and a desktop with AMD Athlon X2 and RS780G)

I installed Lucid Lynx server on D945GCLF2 with boot option "AGP=off" from usb cdrom to pendrive as /
Problem (I think) is intel driver in the kernel, not EHCI module for usb

booting with agp=off in grub was fine but no Xserver
Nobody has recompiled kernel for this board?

Another solution is install Lucid with USB 2.0 disabled in BIOS

Have just updated my D945GCLF2 based home server from Ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit) to 10.10 (64 bit) and everything seems to be working well. Has been running for 4 days now and no funny warnings/errors in dmesg. USB is running fine in EHCI mode with a DVB-T receiver (Hauppauge Nova-T). Kernel is 2.6.35-25-generic x86_64.

Upgrading to 10.10 solves this issue for me. Even though being a perfect 10 it is unfortunately not an LTS release...
