Have just updated my D945GCLF2 based home server from Ubuntu 9.10 (32 bit) to 10.10 (64 bit) and everything seems to be working well. Has been running for 4 days now and no funny warnings/errors in dmesg. USB is running fine in EHCI mode with a DVB-T receiver (Hauppauge Nova-T). Kernel is 2.6.35-25-generic x86_64.
Upgrading to 10.10 solves this issue for me. Even though being a perfect 10 it is unfortunately not an LTS release...
