Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

When I start empathy for the first time after reboot gnome-keyring asks for passord, I provide and then nothing happens so I quit empathy and start it again, nothing happens but If I wait after quiting empaathy for 2-3minutes and then start empathy again it connects to my accounts, this issue has been around for almost 10+ days. most probably after the latest development release of gnome-keyring was pulled in.

I can comment that this happens with me as well. My laptop runs lucid (clean install from lucid nightly two days ago and dist-upgrade das per 30 minutes ago). I have set it to log in automatically from reboot, as the above reporters did too.

It creates the default keyring, but then appears unable to access it and provides and error.

On restarting Empathy, it acts as if there are no accounts and goes through the 'wizard' again, to the same defective result.

The situation is a bit different. If after boot I start empathy It wont be able to access gnome-keyring but If after boot I wait 40secs a popup for gnome-keyring comes automatically and If I provide the password and then start empathy then empathy connects and also after giving password to that popup MeMenu text field becomes visible. (Note: if I start empathy just after boot then all symptoms are from this bug report)

Hi, I have libgnome-keyring 2.30.0-0ubuntu3 but still think I have this problem.

The problem only occurs when I use auto-login. When I don't use auto-login, empathy is automatically started after logging in and my accounts connect automatically, i.e. there's a green speech bubble icon in the indicator applet and my contact list is populated.

When I do use auto-login, upon starting up I am prompted with "Enter password to unlock your login keyring". I enter my keyring successfully, but then empathy does not appear to be started at all (e.g. no speech bubble icon in the indicator applet). If I manually start empathy via the Indicator Applet, the contacts window is blank. If I then do Edit -> Accounts, my accounts are "Offline - Status is set to offline". If I uncheck "Enabled" and then recheck "Enabled", the accounts connect and are reported as "Available". However, the contacts window remains blank.

Further to my comment above, if I Quit empathy and then start empathy again, everything is fine (I finally get the green speech bubble icon and can see my contacts).
