Bug Description

Binary package hint: empathy

I installed Lucid on a USB stick with persistent storage. I entered some accounts (MSN, Jabber, IRC). I closed Ubuntu down. Having re-started, the accounts are still there (Edit > Accounts) and I have Offline Contacts checked, but no contacts are shown. Also in the Chat menu options (New Conversation..., New Call... and Add Contact...) there are no entries in the Accounts drop-down list.

Thanks for taking time to report this bug and help make ubuntu better. There is a similar known bug in which empathy cannot access gnome-keyring initially, so after rebooting start and close empathy and open it again after 2+ minutes and see if you are able to connect. Please let us know if that solves the problem for you.

Changed in empathy (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Incomplete

Hi Omer

Will do what you ask, but first I have to report that adding a People Nearby Account fixed the problem.

Hi Omer

I rebooted, ran Empathy, gave the password for the default keyring, closed Empathy. Re-started Empathy and very soon all the contact details and Accounts were available.

So I think I can say the problem is solved and equivalent to the existing bug.
