Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

Since the last update (maybe of GTK+, maybe of f-spot, I don't know exactly as I don't run f-spot every day), f-spot is behaving strangely. When I want to view a single image (double click in the image list view), I get a grey square instead of the photo I'm expecting to see.

I'm guessing it could be related to the "Windowless GDK" thing. Or it might not be.

I am able to confirm this, although I see remnants of what was visible previously instead of a grey square. Definitely not the correct image though

By the way, I'm seeing this on an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT using the "radeon" driver and metacity (no 3d available :-/)

With help from gimpnet/#f-spot I've compiled a version from git master, and it doesn't have this bug.

I can confirm this bug as well, I'm using the radeon X.org driver, interestingly fullscreen mode works

I'm using 32bit by the way. I don't think its graphics card related though because
the problem also happens when running F-Spot inside Xnest which doesn't depend much on the graphics hardware.

I think because Gtk is the main subject for causing the effect, this package should also be referenced.
It might have to do with the fact that the newest Gtk update doesn't sue seperate X Windows for widgets anymore.

Thanks for the report, i'm getting the same here after latest update, could be due to bug 401938 which was fixed a few hours back, the gtk+ build was missing the png loader. this is something to test after getting that update, thanks.

Pedro: the f-spot bug has been around for some time, longer than the gtk png loader issue. I think the hypothesis that it relates to the client-side gtk windows change is more likely, but I'm guessing :)

I concur with comment #6, this is fixed in git master and #f-spot suggests that a new release will happen next week, which ought to be in time for Karmic?
