Some translations are not applied

I've updated the langpacks in my Spanish desktop today, using the last langpacks builds (version 1:6.06+20060407).

If you look into Rosetta template for "gnome-panel-2.0" for Spanish (in https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/dapper/+lang/es), you can see that "Applications" (the first menu in the top panel) is translated to "Aplicaciones" in Spanish, and its tooltip ("Browse and run installed applications") is translated to "Examine y ejecute aplicaciones instaladas".

But, as you can see in the screenshot I post below, the menu name appears translated, but the tooltip is not translated.

The translated string is in the .mo file, as you can see if you type:

The same is for the "Places" -> "Lugares" and its tooltip ("Access documents, folders and network places" -> "Acceda a documentos, carpetas y sitios de red"):

All the translated tooltips are in the .mo file, but the tooltips remains untranslated in the desktop.

It must be "Examine y ejecute aplicaciones instaladas", but it is (incorrectly) "Browse and run installed applications".

update-notifier has a similar problem. The string "New updates available" is translated to "Nuevas actualizaciones disponibles" in the .po file (as you can see in its template in Rosetta, or exporting it from the Rosetta's "Download" option), but it isn't in the .mo file:

It could be "Nuevas actualizaciones disponibles" in Spanish, and this string is in Rosetta and the .po file, but it isn't in the .mo file.

The tooltips appears translated now, but the "New updates available" from update-notifier is still untranslated.

I create the Bug #40524 explicitly for the "New updates available" problem.

Using the 3May06 build apparently all the issues you were finding with the untranslated tooltips of "System", "Applications", "Places" into Spanish were solved.
