Bug Description

Well, this is an old bug, i've seen some bug reports for the exact same bug but i've never found a clear solution to it. I'm running a Fujitsu Siemens pi 2530, and my front speakers doesn't mute when I connect a pair of headphones or speakers in my headphone jack. There are separate volume controls for speakers and headphones in ALSA but if i mute the speakers, the headphones also mute....

Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10

No, it's not a duplicate of bug 210854. That bug is about a HP system, I
have a Fujitsu Seimens system, and it is common bug in FS system. I can't
find a solution for my model, pi 2530.

Sorry, I tagged the wrong bug when I was marking duplicates last night. There are around 15 bugs that report the same issue: speakers not being muted when headphones are plugged in. By comments on a couple bugs, this seems to be an across-the-board issue stemming from a line in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base:

A comment in bug 332542 indicates that this will fix this issue:
"it's in adding to:
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
following line:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto"

You didn't really give us enough info to go on, OP. There's nothing inherently wrong with being nice unless you do things people don't actually want you to do because you perceive it as helpful or if you're doing it with the intention of getting something in return. So without specific examples of situations and conversations it's impossible to say if you actually are a pleasant, polite person or if people see you as trying too hard or fake. But here is a comment I gave another user that had a similar problem which might help you understand why this happens a lot.

- do you have a passion in life? Do you have goals you are actively working toward? Do you have any interesting hobbies to pass your time? Do you have any career goals or at least a plan on how to get there?

- do you work to improve yourself? Are you aware of your flaws and try to decrease them in a healthy way? On the flip side, do you constantly talk down to yourself in front of others? That is very unattractive.

- are you considerate of others' needs and feelings? Are you kind to people who you don't directly know? (For example, how do you treat wait staff?) On the flip side of this, do you ever make your own needs and preferences known in a respectful way? Few women want to date a lap dog, but no we don't want "jerks" either despite what people say.

- are you generally more of a positive or a negative person? Do you complain a lot? That's a turn off for most people.

- how is your hygiene? Do you bathe at least every other day, brush your teeth twice a day, wear clean clothes, and try to keep your hair, facial hair, and fingernails clean and trimmed? Are you close to a healthy weight for your size?

- do you drop too many hints or otherwise do things that could be interpreted as pressuring for sex? Women don't want to feel you only want their company for sex, unless it is a booty call situation.

- do you ask the women you hang out with about their lives, opinions, hobbies, jobs, etc? Do you show interest in things that are important to them?

And lastly, is there anyone who could maybe give you feedback on your situation, that would be honest with you?

These are the most common reasons why someone could be seen as undesirable by a woman. Think about them and try to see yourself through someone else's eyes. Good luck!

Haha. Our blockbuster turned into some kind of pet food store. The manager of the blockbuster opened her own video store several years ago.

I went in there today to rent an Xbox 360 game and the woman told me they don't rent video games. She had hardly any movies and her selection was pretty crap. I'm amazed she is still in business. I'd hate to see how badly in debt she is.

What's the interest rate on the CC? And what are you paying on it monthly now?

I think it would be worthwhile to pay down your credit card debt first because of the high interest rate. Personally I would take the money from the life insurance and your bonus and put it right on top of your credit card debt. Going from 19k to 11k is nothing to sneeze at.

Also, depending on the kind of returns you get from your investments (dividends, regular growth) it might not be worth it to cash that out. Since I started investing (2 years) I've averaged ~6.3

If NJWS didn't shit the bed against OMG then UZI would have faced a Korean team. Just because a team is Korean doesn't mean they're automatically a great team. OMG was the better team than NJWS but yet people hold that he didn't go against a Korean team against him. If OMG all died and NJWS had to go on for them would you be like "Ok now UZI is legit because he's going against a Korean team" even after seeing them get 0-3'd against OMG?

This situation of staying in an AirBnB (or similar) place where you don't have the whole flat/apartment but rather share with the hosts seems to generate a huge amount of confusion.

If you were couchsurfing- obviously it's a social arrangement and you're making plans with the host. If you were renting a self-contained apartment, it would be fine to do your own thing, within reason.

Your situation is a weird (though of course common) hybrid where it's primarily a business arrangement (you pay the host for a place to stay), but there's also a strong social aspect since you're sharing space with your host. And this is where the potential for misunderstanding comes in, because there are so many different expectations about where that line gets drawn between business arrangement and social situation.

It's odd that they didn't tell you about the baby/give you a list of "house rules" - maybe they, or at least the bf, are very inexperienced hosts? Maybe there's a language barrier? And sure, you probably could have been more considerate - warned him you'd be back late, offered to go to a laundromat if your clothes were really smelly - but he could also have asked you to do these things without getting belligerent.

What's done is done - I'd give the guy some time to cool down, maybe leave him a note apologizing again and letting him know what to expect (if you are leaving early, if you'll be home late, etc.) Obviously you two are not going to bond, but I don't think you NEED to leave - but you know best if you'd be more comfortable elsewhere.

Agreed, the media has pushed the narrative, but I think conference realignment has created this idea of conference tribalism. It seems weird to me, because growing up in the 80s and early 90s it just wasn't like that. You had your team, and you had your rivals, and you always wanted your rivals to lose. Maybe I'm getting old(get off my lawn!!), or maybe I'm seeing things through rose colored glasses, or maybe, just possibly, I drank too much tonight.

What exactly have they done? Reading the wiki it seems they are involved in some cattle abuse scandal, they gave Iraqi seeds for planting, that they ate, they grow a shit load of soy in south america for beef, but people buy their beef. I will always hold consumers responsible to buying more ethically, they are the ones that want this keep beef.....

So what has Cargill done besides make billions of dollars on America's base desires and staples (you know, burgers and shit)?

Or is it just capitalism is evil? Humans should be living like monkeys bullshit?

Unless they're deaf (get them a hearing aid) or you need to get their attention in an emergency, what's the point? Volume of voice does very little to add to communication, and makes a quiet voice less effective in the future.

Seriously, except to get attention at distance when you can't move closer, what is the point? What does yelling do for you that a normal voice doesn't?

Ive been smoking everyday for over 10 years. Still am, but working on it. A few years ago, I had to quit because I was arrested and got drug tested for 6 months. I stopped cold turkey, for 7 months. I was expecting to get "super powers" pretty much. I thought I'd have a ton of energy and a photographic memory. It didn't happen. I think the answer is that quitting weed is only the beginning, and a small part of changing who you are. You want to change obviously, and you've begun the process. Unfortunately it isn't as easy as just stop smoking, but you're on your way! Try to start a new habit that is healthy, now that you've stopped an unhealthy one, and I'll bet you'll start noticing more of a change. I'm on day 3 btw. Good luck to us all. And sorry some douchers made condescending comments in here.
