Can't select another account in Pidgin "Join a Chat" window

Binary package hint: pidgin

1) Ubuntu 8.04
2) Pidgin 2.4.1
3) Wanted to select my IRC Account information in "Join a Chat" window.
4) Cannot switch from Gmail/Jabber Account (XMPP).

Here on Intrepid with Pidgin 2.5.2 it works. What happens if you click on the account in the dialogue in order to change the account?

You're right, this bug has been fixed or no longer applies for Pidgin 2.5.2
version. To upgrade my 32-bit Hardy I used GetDeb.net binaries for pidgin
pidgin-data and libpurple0. Also had to install libsilc from the regular
software repositories. Now when I select "Join a Chat" (Ctrl-C) from the
Buddy List menu, I can toggle between accounts.
