You're right, this bug has been fixed or no longer applies for Pidgin 2.5.2
version. To upgrade my 32-bit Hardy I used GetDeb.net binaries for pidgin
pidgin-data and libpurple0. Also had to install libsilc from the regular
software repositories. Now when I select "Join a Chat" (Ctrl-C) from the
Buddy List menu, I can toggle between accounts.
