Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

The fonts of the user interface of Open Office look less smooth than in other applications. This makes Open Office look a bit out of place.

The is a difference though very subtle. The fonts in Open Office look slightly thinner.

I still can't see the difference in your screenshots :-)

However I have noticed that changing the font rendering in System->Preferences->Appearance ->Fonts->Rendering does not have impact on the OOo fonts in the menus but does on gedit and others

It seems openoffice does some font aliasing of its own which overrides the font aliasing done by the windowing system : Tools->Options->View>font aliasing

end result is indeed that there can be a difference between the font rendering of most programs on ubuntu and open office which is not ideal

Anyone hear any news on this one, it seems strange that OpenOffice doesn't follow the rest of the desktop settings for font rendering.. Especially noticeable for me since I use sub-pixel with Slight hinting mode, which is much different from default full hinting...

Hardy?

Should we look upstream?
