ui fonts dont respect gnome font settings

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Chaning the hinting settings in System->Appeareance->Fonts has no effect on the UI fonts in openoffice. I always change my settings to Subpixel Rendering -> Slight and the Openoffice UI fonts still appear to be whatever was the default (best shapes or best contrast, i forget which).
