See comment #2 for details. If you ran into this, please run

   sudo update-rc.d mountkernfs.sh defaults
   sudo apt-get -f install

This cleans up after that error.

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/init-system-helpers/1.26ubuntu1 broke update-rc.d for about half a day in Ubuntu. If you installed/upgraded during that time or with an image built in that time, you'd get an effect like this. Can you please run

   sudo update-rc.d mountkernfs.sh defaults
   sudo apt-get -f install

This should clean up after that error.
