Bug Description

I just upgraded to 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu1 and the menu bar is gone under GNOME Shell session. Since I cannot use the menus, LibreOffice is unusable.

Same here.

No menus with Gnome-shell DE. This is a regression.

Also, Libreoffice crashes immediately when any odt file is opened.

It doesn't crash for me. But it does open the file recovery dialog every time I open any file (odt, docx, xls, etc.) presuming that LO crashed the last time it was launched, which is not the case. More over, it keeps adding up those files opened to the recovery dialog; at first I had one file on the list, now it shows in the dialog all the files I have opened since I installed this version. However, it "recovers" only the last one opened. So I guess this is another bug. I reported it as bug #1062789.

Interesting that if you uninstall libreoffice-gnome and libreoffice-gtk and gtk3 it will have the menu again.
http://imagebin.org/231152 no gtk
http://imagebin.org/231153 gtk and or gtk3
It crashes when trying to open the libreoffice shortcut and choosing writer it wont open. Then it always tries to
recover the file when clicking on calc or writer shortcuts.

fixes the unitymenu integration patch so that LibreOffices own menu is only removed in a unity session.
This only modifies the vcl gtk plugin in libreoffice-gtk -- other parts of libreoffice are untouched by this change.

rationale:
LibreOffice with libreoffice-gtk installed would otherwise be unusable in gnome-classic. The only possible workaround would be to disable or remove libreoffice-gtk with a severe impact on desktop integration.

Is there any way to disable global menu support by LibreOffice even whilst using Unity? Or would that be a separate bug/feature request?

@tanqazx,

You can removed libreoffice-gtk. It'll get the upstream look and no global menu.

I just got the same problem that zhengpeng-hou (#14) reported. When I click to open a file from a browser (which uses xdg-open), I generally get no menu.

This bug is definitely not fixed.

For me, it only seems to affect Draw, which I use a lot. This bug makes Draw unusable, so I removed libreoffice-gtk which is a bad workaround.

Dino99: What do you mean "fixed now"?

I just upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10 last night 10/28/12 and the problem still exists. LibreOffice is unusable without removing libreoffice-gtk then it's UGLY!

What is your fix and when will it be part of updates?
