Bug Description
With kernel 3.4.0-5 network-manager WPA wireless, network-manager menus very difficult to activate, drop down selection shaded out for a long long time, after many many selection clicks. Then it finally after a delay will connect.
Next tme I boot, and network-manger disconnects. Doesn't connect to the WPA even though everything is all set up.
Then after several tries to even get the full network manager menu to display "connect to hidden wireless network", the "connect to hidden wireless network" menu is then mostly greyed out. Does not respond to mouse or arrow keys. Many attmpts to get selection or tab to work, finally does, then does not connect.
Repeat "connect to hjidden wireless network" again and again finally after a long delay connects. Whew. On every boot.
I have a notebook upgraded to quantal except the kernel is 3.2.0-24. Sometimes connects to WPA network right away, but at least network manager menu selects first time, selecting "connect to hidden wireless" works right away, the selections and mouse clicks actually work, and it connects right away.
Any way to get "connect to hidden network" to be remembered on next boot with 3.4.0-5?
Any way to get "connect to hidden network" menu choices to come up activated the first time and then when the only network is selected, to actually connect? Wireless Security tab click on it many many times with delay may or may not come up.
Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000, Acer Aspire 1 netbook Quantal running as expected for Alpha 1 otherwise.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Of course, ubuntu-bug can't report if network isn't up, so I did this ubuntu-bug after it -finally- got running.

summary: |
- quantal network-manager fails to connect WPA network + quantal NetworkManager delays ungreying the menu a long time and fails + automatically to connect WPA |
First problem (bug) is that the network-manager disconnectes on boot even though it has the network name, security type, and password. Enable network and enable wireless are both checked and should connect instead of disconnecting.
Second problem (bug) is on selecting "Connect to hidden wireless network" all the selections are greyed out and won't respond to mouse, down errow, space bar, you name it.
On my notebook with kernel 3.2.0-24 it asks for userpassword at this point, I assume quantal 3.4.0-5 network-manager is waiting for password but never did pop up the password menu and ask.
After some time of trying, finally the selections work, all filled out and ready to go. Push enter and menu completes.
Some time later, sluggish, finally connects like it should have at boot.
At 1.66 GHz the network manager must be using up billions of instructions doing what?
Any suggestions/try this/try that etc. would be appreciated.
