\omga is a typo; LaTeX chokes on it. The macro should read \omega.
• In test cases where no log is produced at all: Might be a PATH issue or a consequence of Windows security becoming more restrictive with each release. If the same application combo (Zim/Python/TeX distro) works on one version of Windows but not on a newer one, this seems likely.
• I suggest you revisit the Win 7 example (comment #3):
