I manually ran, using tab-completion in the grub prompt, "configfile /ubuntu/drives/boot/grub/menu.lst" (IIRC), which gave me correct boot entries to choose from; attemtping to boot any of them gave me the error "You must load the kernel first" (IIRC again), though.
