If you entered gmseed as your username then that is what your username would be. At a terminal login that's what you'd have to enter. Your home directory will be /home/gmseed. What you are seeing at the logon screen is the Real Name on the account and that shows on your desktop as well.

Wubi logic is to take the Windows user account (which allows uppercase) as the real name, and the entered username as the username (but it defaults to the lower case windows account name). This works well when your Windows user name is John, and you select "john" as your username. But may be confusing when you use an administrator account to install on. It's really easy to change the Real name on the account.
