Well, while we look into this, we should also optimize the read/write function. I plan on doing some benchmarking soonish (in a month or so - kind of busy now). I need to test read/write speeds compared to Linux, as I can control the Linux side fairly easily.

If the rates turn out the same, then we're stuck with the current read speeds.
