I also can't use my CryptoStick in UPR. Following your instructions i can confirm that installing libccid (1.3.11) and pcscd (1.5.3) solves the problem. However, running "init 5" afterwards made my comp crash, so i decided to use a standard ubuntu 10.04 live image with disconnected harddrive and disabled wifi in order to generate my GPG-Keys.

To be short, including pcscd and libccid works, but the way you indicated above is a pain.
