Bug Description

I can't use my CryptoStick (see http://www.privacyfoundation.de/crypto_stick/crypto_stick_english/)

As per https://www.privacyfoundation.de/wiki/CryptoStickSoftwareEn#Ubuntu_Linux_10.4_and_above
it needs libccid installed (and packages openct and opensc removed) as well as https://www.awxcnx.de/apt/dists/lenny/main/binary-i386/cryptostick_1.0_all.deb (referenced from https://www.privacyfoundation.de/wiki/CryptoStickSoftwareEn#Drivers_for_version_1.2) for v1.2

Since sudo is dumbed down I seem to be unable to install them myself :-(

You can install an remove packages in the running session with sudo this way:

There already is a way to become root:

1. Boot into single user mode (press Esc at the boot screen, then F6 remove "quiet" and "splash" and add "single" to the options line. -> root-shell

2. If you want to use sudo unlimited in the running UPR-System later on, you have to edit /etc/sudoers: run "visudo" and add "%admin ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL" at the end of the list.

3. run "init 5"

4. run "startx" -> Gnome-Desktop starts with unlocked sudo

Because this is uncomfortable for users needing this option very often, we are thinking about something like a "god-mode"-option inside the boot menu for the next release.

We are very interested in your experiences with the cryptostick under UPR 10.04. If it works fine, maybe we would integrate the needed packages into the next UPR release. Please report your experiences here

I also can't use my CryptoStick in UPR. Following your instructions i can confirm that installing libccid (1.3.11) and pcscd (1.5.3) solves the problem. However, running "init 5" afterwards made my comp crash, so i decided to use a standard ubuntu 10.04 live image with disconnected harddrive and disabled wifi in order to generate my GPG-Keys.

To be short, including pcscd and libccid works, but the way you indicated above is a pain.

"godmode" switch was added to UPR 10.04r2. Just insert "godmode" at the boot-prompt (F6) to get unlocked sudo.

We will think about including pcscd and libccid into the next release. Thanks for your advise.
