I have one machine with WinXPProSP3(32bit), the same machine dual booting with Ubuntu Natty (64bit), a WinXPSP3 (32bit) Laptop, and a netbook with Win7Starter.

To test Ubuntu One against Dropbox which I currently use on all these machines I wrote a small simple text file.
First I created and wrote to it in Ubuntu. (A single line stating machine and OS)
Then rebooted the machine under XP and wrote to it with notepad in XP. (Again a single line as before.)
Then I wrote to it with the XP Laptop (Work machine, same single line with identity details.)
Then I wrote to it with the netbook. (Same formula.)

Now all machines *except* the dual boot WinXP machine see all lines.

The dual boot WinXP machine, has shown other files I have attempted to replicate the problem with, but all it sees of that original test file is the first line and the one it wrote itself. The following two lines do not show. It also shows a *fragment* file, which none of the others sees. This file (TestingUbubtuOne.txt.u1partial) actually contains the entire correct text tile contents.

Other files have shown, been edited, deleted Etc. The only differences I know of was the first file was created under Ubunto, the rest have come from the various windows machines. However I doubt this is significant. It appears more like a temporary file problem.
