Sadly, we still have neither 1) a statement that it will become free at some point (ala early LP) or 2) a statement that it will become free on X date (ala late LP). Given Canonical now has a track record of following through with its promises on open-sourcing things, I think it is very telling the silence around UbuntuOne.
