Comment 7 for bug 996535

I just found these instructions which purport to be for 12.04 and 12.10:

sudo su
apt-get remove --purge zram-config
apt-add-repository ppa:shnatsel/zram
apt-get update
apt-get install zram-config
exit

This worked for me... Hope it helps someone else.
