Same happens to Dell Optiplex 745 with Q965 but only sometimes. Restart fix it usually. Also VT switching and X restart is broken. I'm not sure if this is different or same bug. Here are my config and probes.

Miika, this particular bug is going to be specific to this chip (8086,2a02 / 8086,1999), so you should really file a new bug.

David, could you confirm that this still occurs with 8.04.1? If it does, could you also check against Intrepid?

Also, in your description you say that the driver is not detected/assigned, however looking at both logs you post it clearly is listing log data from the -intel driver. Could you explain how you're determining that the driver was not detected or assigned? Please include the Xorg.0.log's corresponding to a) specifying "intel" in xorg.conf, b) not specifying any driver in xorg.conf.

Heya davidbensimon,

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
