Sorry, for temporarily unmarking this as a dupe. I was mixing up bug numbers. I think the core problem is a dupe of #28925 indeed. John: Have you managed to get Edgy installed using the alternate CD? It would be interesting to know if changing the driver to "radeon" would make the VT switching problems go aways, as well.

Have a look at #67487 and check if this sounds similar to you.
