Comment 58 for bug 338669

Ok so I've installed everything from

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/experimental/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/experimental/ubuntu jaunty main

(had to do several sudo apt-get install dist-upgrade before installation succeeded - but X did not crash)

It is now much better: for instance just moving the mouse over the messages list in kmail used to make Xorg use 70% CPU, and now it is about 30%.

However the painting artifacts are NOT gone: see screenshot (top right of kmail window)

Too bad!
