Okey... Didn't even know what a zaphod mode was. :/ But I got my dual head working after little searching and playing around with the configs.

All I had to do was add a "Virtual 2580 1024" to the new single monitor xorg.conf under Screen section's subsection "Display" and then use "xrandr --output VGA-0 --right-of DVI-0". So it works now (with the driver version 1:6.7.192-1ubuntu2 at least), except that the monitors are identified in different order than with xinerama... Now the VGA is screen 1 and DVI screen 2, but I can live with that if I can't find out how to change the order.

I think it should be mentioned somewhere in the release notes that dual head system has changed so that people upgrading with old configs would know what to do when they end up with a broken X.
