it's seems that this problem is driver related and a dupe of this one:

so perhaps that will be a good idea to go to this bug for the ati driver:

http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15096

There are no reaction from the devs right now but perhaps if a lot of people are expressing their concern to have this solve that will help.
